London Stadium
As Media Assistant at the Stadium, I am responsible for generating content for the ‘News’ section on the website and covering their social media platforms.
I have written preview, report and feature pieces across the 2017 Para and World Athletics Championships, West Ham United’s 2017/18 campaign and the inaugural Aviva Premiership match between Saracens and Harlequins in March.
Staffs Live
Staffs Live is an online platform for Staffordshire University Journalism students to publish real and updated news content. A site that gets over 50,000 views a year, it is a thriving site to practice skills of a professional journalist, as well as producing in-house TV and radio bulletins on a weekly basis.
I have operated as a reporter, sports editor and pundit in different news environments for Staffs Live.
In the role of reporter I attended Stoke City and Port Vale press conferences, interviewed athletes and edited video and audio packages to meet strict deadlines. As editor I tasked reporters to gather relevant sports stories and then organised a running order for bulletins.
Here is an example of a Newsday bulletin I was editorially responsible for:
As a pundit for ‘Newsnight’, I analysed and reported on events between Manchester City and Liverpool in the Champions League. We put the evening reporting out live on Facebook and adopted a Gilette Soccer Saturday style of presentation and production. There were numerous pundits and reporters across grounds in the Football League. If you want to see how it looked, click below:
In my experience of the radio industry, I co-hosted a sports talk show a my student radio station, which can be listened to via my Wakelet profile. I completed a weeks placement at Talksport as a researcher and recently a week at Love Sport Radio. I put forward the idea of reacting to various tweets from fans and journalists commenting on or who have travelled to Baku, for the controversial Europa League final, click below to listen:
